Obituary for Helen R Schmeling
Helen R. Schmeling, 89, of Wall Township passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Welland, Ontario, Canada prior to moving to the United States in 1953 permanently.
She was a registered nurse prior to settling in Long Branch where she was a resident for 33 years and ran an in-home daycare for infants and toddlers up until her retirement in 2008.
She was predeceased by her husband Walter E. Schmeling, her son Michael D. Schmeling, and companions Robert L. Murphy and Tommy O’Brien.
Surviving are her daughters, Sherrie Ball and Laura Jones, and sons Douglas Schmeling and Stephen Murphy. Eight grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking amazing holiday meals, traveling to Atlantic City and gardening. She loved her pets and all animals.
She was the true definition of a wonderful person and the best mother anyone could ask for. She had a heart of gold and would always selflessly take care of others in need.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and in our hearts forever. We love you Mom.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 11 am until her funeral service at 1 pm on Saturday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township.
