Obituary for Gregory George Sariotis

It is with great sadness that the Sariotis family announces the passing of their most beloved, Gregory George Sariotis III. He was born and educated in Asbury Park, and continued his education at the University of Miami. During World War II, Gregory served his country proudly in the United States Coast Guard. Until 1964, he was both Athletic Director at the Shore Area YMCA and the first recreation director of Ocean Township. Gregory was a board member for the St. George Greek Orthodox Church for twenty five years; Father of the Year in 2014; served on the Ocean Township Sewerage Authority for twenty six years and was honored by Ocean Township with a lifetime achievement award and businessman of the year award. In 1964, he founded Oakhurst Country Day School and Camp, selflessly serving generations of children for 40 years-this was his love. He always found time for academic and athletic events of his eight grandchildren.
Gregory is predeceased by his parents, George and Katherine Sariotis, his sister, Anastasia Sariotis, and his brother, Michael Sariotis.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Thalia (Heliotis) Sariotis; three children, George Sariotis and his wife Cindie, Ellynn Sariotis, and Jamie Glynn and her husband Denis; his grandchildren, Gregory Sariotis IV and his wife Nikole, Ryan and Shannon Wetter, Christopher Sariotis and his wife Brittany, Wesley O’Donnell and his fiancé Gabriella, Taylor and Kaylie O’Donnell and Ryleigh Rawson; great-grandson, George Sariotis II and a great granddaughter due in December.
