Floyd J. Lake, 84, a lifelong resident of Long Branch, died Wednesday at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.



He served in the US Navy for 4 years during WW II. He then worked at the family owned mill in West Long Branch. He graduated from the police academy and then joined Monmouth County Sheriff Department before retiring in 1988. He was a 56 year active member, life member and past captain of Neptune Hose Company of the Long Branch Fire Department, member and past captain of the Long Branch Fire Police and a member of the VFW, Oakhurst. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, West End, Long Branch.



He was predeceased by his parents, and Florence Peak Lake, brother, Harry Lake and nephew Timothy Lake.



Surviving are his wife, Elsa Toboada Lake; sister, Dorothy Anselowitz of Florida; 5 nieces and nephews, Karen and Michael O'Hare, Keith and Patti Toboada, Linda and Richard Derrick, Brian and Amanda Toboada and Alan and Judy Toboada and his great nieces and nephews.



Relatives and friends are invited his Funeral Mass at 10:30 am on Monday at St. Michael's Church, West End, Long Branch. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory be made to Neptune Hose Company of the LBFD, 30 Branchport Avenue, Long Branch or to a charity of choice.
