Ernest F. Blakeley, 82, of Elberon, Long Branch, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital, Wayne.
He was born in Shrewsbury and lived in Red Bank most of his life. He moved to Clearwater, FL in 1992 and to Elberon in 2003.
He was a layout technician for JCP&L for 35 years before retiring. Prior to that he was a police officer for the Borough of Red Bank. He was a 1945 graduate of Red Bank High School and a graduate of the NJ State Police Academy in 1952. He served in the US Navy. He was a former communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, an exempt member of Independent Fire Company, Red Bank and a founding member of the Red Bank Pop Warner Football.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Recinelli Blakeley in 2006, his parents, Ernest and Eva Blakeley, brother, Donald E. Blakeley and sister, Eva M. Boyle.
Surviving are his daughters, Judith L. Blakeley of West Long Branch, Debra A. O'Grady and her husband Kevin of Elberon and Kim B. Lyttle and her husband Christopher of Brick; sister-in-law, Rose R. Peters of Brick; 6 grandchildren, Kevin M. O'Grady and his wife Paula, Jeremiah P. O'Grady and his wife Maria, Julia A. O'Grady and Christopher J., Matthew E. and Daniel A. Lyttle and a great-grandson, Joseph Michael O'Grady. Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2-4 & 7-9 pm Sunday at Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral 9 am Monday from the funeral home followed by a 10 am, Funeral Mass at St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church, West Long Branch. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
