Obituary for Elise C. Kent
Elise C. Kent, 99, of Ocean Township, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at Manor-by-the-Sea in Ocean Grove where she had resided the last several years.
Born in New Brunswick, N.J. she lived most of her life at the Jersey Shore.
She was a graduate of Douglass College which she attended on an academic scholarship.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert B. Kent, Sr.
Surviving are her son Robert B. Kent, Jr and his wife Theresa of North Brunswick, N.J. who tirelessly answered her every need during the most senior years of her life. She is also survived by her daughter Laura Kent Hower of Fair Haven, NJ, her son-in-law George Hower and their daughter Autumn.
Elise lived in Ocean Township where she taught in the school system and her true love were the hundreds of students she taught during the 46 years that she taught there. Many of her best friends were fellow faculty members with whom she spent many after school hours discussing and planning what was best for her students.
After retirement in 1986 Elise finally found time to enjoy her post-teaching life which included golf, bowling, gardening, needlepoint, going to flea markets and her second home in Sarasota.
In honor of Elise’s dedication to students everywhere, donations to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital will acknowledge and honor her life.
Funeral arrangements will be private.
