Obituary for Edward G Smack

Edward George Smack, 65, of Long Branch, passed away on Wednesday December 19, 2018 after a long illness. Edward was born in Red Bank to the late Cyril (Skippy) and Betty Smack on November 28, 1953.
He is survived by his sister, Virginia Ghiorzi and husband Anthony; brother, Walter Smack and his wife Jessica; sister, Jane Smack with whom he lived; love of his life and best friend, Anne Marie Sundberg; nieces and nephews, Christopher Ghiorzi and his wife Elizabeth, Katherine Ghiorzi and Mika Smack; great-niece, Isabella and many loved ones and friends. Edward attended Sea Bright School and Shore Regional High School. He worked for the Borough of Sea Bright and was known as Mr. Fix-it.
He was a very active community volunteer which included his services as president and ex-chief of the Sea Bright Fire Department, treasurer of Sea Bright First Aid Inc. and served the Office of Emergency Management in Sea Bright. He was also a first responder during 9-11 at the World Trade Center.
Eddie was a known classic car enthusiast and a Jersey Speed skiff “outlaw”. He was also known for his sense of humor. He took great joy playing pranks at any given moment. Lastly, he was known for his willingness to help those in need unconditionally and could fix anything.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 1 pm until his memorial service at 2 pm Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Sea Bright United Methodist Church, 1104 Ocean Avenue, Sea Bright.
