Obituary for Dr. Peter J. Ganley

Dr. Peter J. Ganley, born March, 1, 1944, passed away peacefully March 4, 2024 surrounded by family in Fort Lauderdale, FL where he resided after his retirement in 2009.

Peter was born in Forest Hills, NY and moved to West Allenhurst, NJ where he completed his undergraduate education at Mt. Carmel and St. Rose High School. He continued his education at William Paterson University, University College of Buffalo, and later achieved his Doctorate at Johns Hopkins University in Audiology and Speech Pathology. Peter was a former Lieutenant of the United States Navy where he spent time in Tokyo and Portugal, along with many other places of residency. He spent his career as Chief of Audiology/Speech Pathology at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Biloxi, MS until his retirement. During his distinguished career with the VA Medical Center, Peter earned numerous awards and recognitions for his outstanding service and commitment.

Peter is survived by his loving sisters Inez C. Johnson and Mary Jane Martuscelli (Joseph) along with several nieces, nephews and their children. He is predeceased by Edmund B. Ganley (father), Inez D. Ganley (mother), Edmund B. Ganley, Jr. (brother), Frederick J. Johnson, III (brother-in-law) and Karen Frasch (niece).

Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 800 Ocean Avenue, Long Branch. Entombment will follow at St. Catharine’s Cemetery in Sea Girt.
