David L. Pfaff of West Long Branch, New Jersey passed away on Monday August 15, 2011 at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City. David was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1929, son of Marcella Gavan Pfaff and Eugene Nicholas Pfaff. In 1938, the family moved to Chicago, Illinois where he attended St. Mel's Christian Brothers School. He enlisted and served in the US Navy for 5 years aboard the USS Chanticleer and the USS Tarawa. Dave graduated from Michigan State University in 1955 and was an Electronic Engineer at Fort Monmouth, NJ. He later obtained his masters degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and after his retirement from Fort Monmouth in 1985, he became a Consulting Engineer. During his lifetime, Dave had served as president of the West Long Branch Community Center and Shore Regional HS Booster Club. He had also been a member of the Association of Old Crows, Monmouth County Holy Name Bowling League, Ft. Monmouth and West Long Branch Ski Clubs and was currently an officer of NARFE Chapter 311, West Long Branch.

Dave was a member of the Monmouth County Catholic Young Adult Club where he met Catherine A. Lang of Fair Haven, New Jersey. They married on April 15, 1961 at Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven and moved to West Long Branch in 1963. Dave was an active member, Trustee and Sacristan of St. Jerome RC Church in West Long Branch and a member of the Holy Name Society.

Dave was predeceased by his parents and brother Eugene J. Pfaff. He is survived by his wife Cathy of 50 years, his daughter Anne Marie Pfaff of Brick, his son Eugene D. Pfaff of Lawrenceville, Georgia and daughter Maureen T. Delehoy and her husband Loren of Henderson, Nevada. Also surviving are his sisters, Patricia Pfaff of Chicago and Jacqueline Cummins of Rhinelander, Wisconsin along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4PM to 8PM Thursday, Aug.18 at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11AM Friday Aug. 19 at St. Jerome Church, 250 Wall Street, West Long Branch, NJ. Burial will be at the Glenwood Cemetery, Monmouth Road, West Long Branch. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dave's memory to The St. Jerome Tuition Assistance.
