David Nelson, 89, of Lakewood, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.

He was born in Colonia, Woodbridge and lived in Laurence Harbor, Matawan and Howell before moving to Lakewood 6 years ago.

He was a carpenter for Local #2250 in Red Bank and a member American Legion, Trenton and a Master Mason with Lodge #192, Matawan. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, South Amboy. He served in the Army Air during WW II.

He was predeceased by his wife, Grace in 1982; his parents, Edward and Mary Nelson; brothers, Edward and Charles Nelson and sister, Helen Lindstrom.



Surviving are his children, David A. and his wife Ann Nelson of Jackson, Susanne Gesell and her fiancé George Lockhart of Palm Harbor, FL and Debra Figoni of Lakewood; 4 grandchildren, Glenn Nelson, John Gesell, Robert Pullham and Jessica Nelson; 4 great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, Lester Luongo, Rochelle Menditto and Veronica Luongo and 7 step-great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 5-9pm Monday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch. Funeral service 11 am Tuesday at the funeral home followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
