Obituary for Constantinos Poniros

Constantinos G. Poniros of Ocean, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday October 8, 2021. Family and friends called him Gus or Costa.

Born in Kardamyla, Chios, Greece in 1935, he served in the Merchant Marines of Greece and eventually came to the United States of America in 1957, where he would make a life for himself and his family. Working as a painter and then as a Government Contractor specializing in Construction Contracts up until he retired.
Constantinos loved and lived immensely for his faith and family. He was an active member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Ocean Township and the Metropolitan Society of Kardamylians.
After marrying his wife Argetta (Siriodis), they lived in Asbury Park, NJ where they started their family. In 1967 he moved his family to Ocean Township, NJ where they lived for over 50 years.
His Greatest joy was his Grandchildren, he will be forever missed.
Constantinos was predeceased by his parents George and Kyriakoula Poniros, his brothers Panagiotis and Michali Poniros.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Argetta Poniros and two sons George and wife Monica Poniros and Nicholas and wife Kristen Poniros; eight grandchildren, Constantinos, Argetta, Alexandros, Demetrios, Michael, Kostandinos, Giovanni, and Anastasia, and his two loving sisters Maria Countouroudas of Brooklyn, NY and Kalliope Livanos of Kardamyla, Chios Greece, as well of an abundance of cousins, nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 11 am until his funeral service at 12 noon on Monday, October 11 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1033 West Park Avenue, Ocean Township, NJ.
