Obituary for Colleen Mary DeSimone

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the family of Colleen DeSimone of West Long Branch announces her passing on Friday, March 25, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Colleen was born in Red Bank to William and Mary (Norton) Daley, the youngest (and hands down favorite) of seven children. Colleen was raised in Middletown and Rumson. Growing up, she enjoyed years of fun with family and friends at Bodman Park and at the beaches of Sea Bright. She was a graduate of Rumson-Fair Haven High School where she began her life-long love of running. After high school she graduated from Monmouth County Vocational School of Nursing and worked many years as a Licensed Practical Nurse in various nursing homes and elder care facilities in Monmouth County, most recently at the Atrium in Red Bank. Her caring, unassuming nature made her a natural for her chosen profession.
Colleen was introduced to her husband, Robert, by her sister, Jeanne. While Jeanne did the groundwork, it was truly a match made in Heaven. They soon married and settled in West Long Branch, where they raised their two sons, Robbie and Kevin, whom Colleen adored.
Colleen was kind and compassionate. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved running, cooking, a good Margarita (on the rocks with salt!), traveling, and spending time with family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. The world will be a sadder place without her.
Colleen was predeceased by her father, William Daley, and her mother, Mary Daley. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Robert DeSimone, and their two sons, Robert DeSimone II and Kevin DeSimone. She is also survived by her sisters: Margaret (Alan) Young; Mary C. Daley; Kathleen (Thomas) Dunphy; Patricia (Brian) Riley; Jeanne (Tony) Cosentino; and her brother, William (Kathleen) Daley. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews: Erin, Meryl, Ryan, Christopher, Kelly, Thomas, Patrick, James, Brendan, Kara, Katie, Courtney, T.J. and Tracy. She will live on in our hearts forever.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2-4 & 7-9 pm Monday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch. Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 am Tuesday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church in Long Branch. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum in Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to VNAHG, 23 Main Street, Holmdel, NJ 07733. For condolences, please visit www.fiorefuneralhomes.com.
