Obituary for Clara Mertens
Clara Mertens, 94, of Long Branch, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch.
She was born in Jersey City before moving to Long Branch. She was a communicant of Christ the King Parish at Holy Trinity Church in Long Branch. Clara enjoyed the journey of life through her strong faith in God. She leaves behind a host of loving family, treasured friends, and many others whose hearts she touched. Clara was an amazing and wonderful woman. She was an incredibly talented seamstress who could design and create anything you wanted. Clara will be remembered for her kindness and generous spirit and will be missed by all who know and love her. She truly is one of God's angels.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Henry “Hank” Mertens; parents, Joseph and Filomena Gallotta and sister, Rose Bonito and brothers, Benjamin and Angelo Gallotta.
Visitation for Clara will be from 10-11 am Saturday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 am at Holy Trinity Church in Long Branch.
