Jo Ann Quackenbush

Dear Cathy Anne,
We are so sorry for your loss.
I never met someone so brave as your mom going through this terrible disease, she reminded me of my mom. My mother carried her sense of humor through any pain and your mom definitely did too when I was with her. After I got to know your mom we were fast friends. I felt like we knew each other for years and also know God ordained our meeting together.
Proverbs 17:17
“A friend loves at all times,
And a brother is born for adversity.”
We were definitely both born to meet.
We shared the same sense of humor and had so many laughs despite her tough circumstances. Because of her being a bus driver, her sense of direction was unbelievable, and me, I never had any sense of direction. We would go out to lunch after her treatments or doctor visits and I would say “Let’s pick a place to eat but direct me wherever we go”. She was amazing, remembering every road and turn off. Only once she forgot a turn I was supposed to take and she excitedly said “Where you going? Pull over.” She knew I was kidding when I said to her, “ok boss.” We were cracking up together the rest of the day.
Sarah and I both prayed with your mom in the hospital. ALL of our church’s Bible home group and church friends have been praying for your mom since they heard of her illness.
I miss(and will continue to miss)my friend and our special road trips and times together. We wanted to go to Hincks Turkey Farm but didn’t end up getting there. At the hospital Sarah and I said to your mom though , “Jesus is preparing a banquet in Heaven and we want the three of us to share our favorite Hinck’s turkey farm sandwich”and she shook her head yes.
I know my husband really liked her and enjoyed her company and enjoyed the times that we all spent together at the holidays and at our home. He was definitely sad at the news of her passing.
She will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Love and prayers,
Jo Ann and Al Quackenbush

Cathy. I am so sorry for your loss. I loved your Mom. She would have me laughing every day when she would bring my daughter home. May God hold you in the palm of His hand during this time. Love, Christine
