Cara Lynn Massaro (75) gained her angel wings on Saturday, April 30th, 2022.
Cara was born on January 14th, 1947, in Long Branch, New Jersey, the daughter of Jack and Eunice Piantanida. She grew up on Wall Street in West Long Branch and graduated from Shore Regional High School in 1965. She fell in love and married her high school sweetheart Salvatore Massaro Sr. They were married on August 27th, 1965, and shared 57 years of marriage, three children, and 9 grandchildren together. In 1979 they moved to Colorado and Idaho for a year before returning back to New Jersey where they built a new home and raised their 3 children. She was a member of the West Long Branch #2 Ladies Auxiliary and an active member in her community. She enjoyed teaching Catechism and loved being a Mom. She graduated Nursing School in 1981 and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 15 years, spending 10 years working for Domenick J. Acerra. When Cara retired from nursing, she devoted her time to her grandchildren.
Cara loved gathering with her friends, line dancing, playing cards, going to Bingo and crafting. She never turned down an invitation to breakfast, her favorite meal of the day! She moved to Florida with her husband Sal in 2012. They enjoyed the sunshine of beautiful Stuart, Florida and all of the fun activities and Happy Hour parties by the pool with her dear friends in The Twin Lakes community. Though she spent many years in Florida, Cara loved spending Christmas time in New Jersey with her family, always hoping for a snowy holiday season. She loved to sit by her fireplace and watch the snow fall. She always looked forward to making her Lemon Meringue pies and her Italian Tadal cookies. Some of her favorite traditions that will be carried on in her honor.
Cara was a country girl at heart. She loved country music, as she would always say, “If it ain’t country, it ain’t music!” Cara’s idea of the perfect vacation was a cabin up in the smoky mountains in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, or to Peddlers Village at Christmas time in New Hope, Pennsylvania, or Walt Disney World with her children and grandchildren. Epcot was her favorite park! After spending 10 Years in Florida, Cara and Sal decided it was time to move back to New Jersey where they currently reside in Shrewsbury with their daughter Melissa and son-in law Lance Redaelli.
Cara will always be remembered for her kind heart, and nurturing spirit. She lived for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was an amazing Wife, incredible Mother, loving Nannie, a devoted Daughter, Sister, and Aunt. Cara cherished her friendships with her lifelong friends and created some unforgettable memories she loved to share.
