Augusta Louise Brockington-Roper, daughter of the late Franklin B. Brockington & Louise McCown-Brockington, was born on February 9, 1937; 5 minutes before her identical twin sister, Frances Brockington.

She was educated in the Elizabeth, NJ public school system; and post high school enrolled in nursing school.

After completing nursing school; she met and married future Naval Petty Officer and Linden, NJ Firefighter, Lee V. Roper in 1960. To this union, 3 sons and 1 daughter were born.

Augusta accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord & Savior as a teen; and never turned back during her life. She frequently conducted a neighborhood Bible study; passed out salvation tracts, and invited all the children on Union Street in Linden to visit her church and accept the Lord. A kind and gentle spirit, she also fed hungry children whether they attended her Bible lesson or not. She was an active member at Emmanual Tabernacle Assembly of God in Linden from 1967-2005; being involved with the Sunday School, VBS, the adult choir, and the usher board. Most recently, she was a member of Whiting Assembly of God where she was active with the usher board until her death.

She is pre-deceased by her father (1952), her mother (2000), 2 brothers and a sister.

She is survived by her husband, Lee Sr.; 2 sisters, Frances Lois Brockington (identical twin) and Sara Brockington-Bost (Fred), her 4 adult children; Lee V. Roper Jr. (Deborah); Dr. Brian Roper Sr. (Sarita); Christopher Roper Sr.; Kimberly Roper-Brailsford (James); 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Augusta's eternal soul departed this earth to her eternal home in Heaven on Friday, March 15, 2013.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday from 9 am until her funeral service at 11 am Victory Fellowship Ministries, 1350 West Blanke Street, Linden followed cremation at Rosehill Crematory, Linden.
