Obituary for Arthur A. Knott

Captain Arthur Alan Knott, 59, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Friday, February 2, 2018 from complications of lymphoma. Born February 27th, 1958 and raised in Oceanport, Arty attended Shore Regional High School. Following in the footsteps of his father, Captain Herbert Knott, from whom he learned the ropes, Arty was proud to have spent much of his adult life working as a tugboat captain in and around New York Harbor. Arty was a skilled craftsman, enjoyed fishing and boating, and later in life developed a passion for painting the tugboats he spent much of his life on.
Arty is predeceased by his father Captain Herbert Knott, his mother Theresa, a Gold Star Mother, his sister Terry Balmer and brothers Lance Corporal Robert Balmer, who died serving in the Vietnam War, and Airman Keith Balmer. Surviving are his sister Stacey Milchev and family, his niece Tearsa Mazza, adult children Kristina Knott, Robert Knott, Kayla Knott and 3 year old grandson River Neuschaefer.
The family will celebrate Arty's life and his would -be 60th birthday later this month at a private family memorial in Sundown, New York at the family's beloved cabin in the Catskill Mountains. For condolences, please visit www.fiorefuneralhomes.com .
