Obituary for Antoinette M. D'Amico

Antoinette D’Amico, 95, of West Long Branch, NJ, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 29, 2019.

Antoinette was the family and her community matriarch, and touched everyone she met with her kindness, generosity, wisdom, and independent spirit.

Born in Newark, NJ, to the late Victor and Diane Tarantino, Antoinette was a devoted wife to the late Achilles D’Amico for over forty years, and a loving mother to Louis D’Amico and Nina Lane. She will leave behind her brother Rocco Tarantino , and his wife Marilyn; and will join her late sister and brother-in-law Josephine and Nicholas Stiso in heaven. Antoinette was an adoring grandmother to six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and her sister-in-law Claire Moore.

Antoinette loved children and music, and was an accomplished piano teacher, who was loved by her many young pupils. She was also an avid bridge and card player, and an outstanding cook. Holidays and summers at the Jersey shore were always special because of her many signature dishes and desserts. Very special to her grandchildren were her wonderful packed lunches for those great summer days at the Allenhurst Beach Club.

Antoinette’s family welcomes relatives and friends to a Mass celebrating her beautiful life at St. Michael’s Church, 800 Ocean Avenue, in West End, Long Branch, NJ on Wednesday , July 31, at 10:30am. Burial will follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery in Colonia, Woodbridge, NJ.
