Anthony J. Cancellieri, 90, of Lincroft, died Tuesday, Nov. 5 at Meridian
Nursing and Rehabilitation in Shrewsbury.

Mr. Cancellieri was born in Bronx, N.Y., before moving to Astoria, N.Y., and
then Oceanport in 1986. He also spent a lifetime of weekends and summers at the
Jersey Shore in Long Branch and Sea Bright.

A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, Mr. Cancellieri was a
flight engineer and maintenance specialist for B-29 Bomber aircraft. After the
war, he graduated from Roosevelt Aviation School in New York.

Mr. Cancellieri eventually pursued fur designing, a lifelong career that
earned him a national reputation as a noted fur designer for the fashion lines
of New York notables John Anthony and Donald Brooks. While a designer for 25
years for Bonwit Teller in New York City, and affiliates in Palm Beach, Fla.,
Beverly Hills and Boston, he made furs for royalty, dignitaries and celebrities.
His nearly 50-year career included designing for Jan Originals, Giorgio Pappas
Furs and Steven Corn Furs, where he retired in 2003.

Mr. Cancellieri was predeceased by his wife, Rita Palladino, his parents,
Louis and Giovanna Cancellieri, and sister Marie T. O'Shea.

Surviving are his son Dr. Francis L. Cancellieri and his wife Ann of
Oceanport, his daughters Jean T. Pomanowski and her husband Wayne of Colts Neck,
and Ellen M. McCarthy and her husband Stephen of Fair Haven; beloved
grandchildren John F. and Olivia A. Cancellieri of Oceanport; niece Maureen
Phillips and nephew Michael Fiore, both of New York, and several great nieces
and nephews and their children.

Visitation will be 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10 at Fiore Funeral Home, 882
Broadway, West Long Branch. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10
a.m. Monday, Nov. 11 at St. Leo the Great Church, 50 Hurleys Lane, Lincroft.
Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.
