Obituary for Anthony Barney

Anthony Barney, 90, of Oceanport, died Monday, May 2nd with his family by his side. He was born in Long Branch, NJ and resided in Oceanport for 57 years.
In his early years, Anthony served in the Korean War on the USS Putman DD-757. He later spent the next 33 years of his career working for the Oceanport School District as a custodian and bus driver and was beloved by everyone who knew him.

“Sonny” could always be found in his garage where there wasn’t a lawnmower in town he couldn’t fix. His passions included making pizzas, building model planes and ships, and spending quality time with his family, especially in his later years as a co-pilot in his son’s taxi.

Anthony was predeceased by his dearest wife Theresa (2017), and his son John (2013).
Surviving is his daughter, Marylou Barney, son, Anthony Barney Jr. (Ruby); grandchildren, Anthony Barney (Kim) and Danielle LoPresti (Nicholas) and 3 great-grandchildren, Anthony and Santino Barney and Lucia LoPresti.
