Obituary for Alan R Porter

Alan Richard Porter passed away peacefully on October 10, 2022 at his home in Ocean Township, NJ. He was 74 years old. He was born in Philadelphia, PA to Phyllis and Richard Porter on December 15, 1947. He grew up in Florham Park, NJ and attended Hanover Park High School where he played varsity ice hockey and soccer. He attended the University of Rhode Island but then graduated from Farleigh Dickson in Madison NJ. He had a BS in business. He spent 37 years working for General Mills in sales and has been living the retired life since 2011 at his home in Ocean Township, NJ.

Alan enjoyed hanging by his pool in his backyard, vacationing to Caribbean Islands with his wife Susan, going to the beach, and loved shopping for the most random things for him or for anybody else! He spent a good part of his life buying sports cars. Having the “toy car” was very much a passion for him. He had Corvette’s, Mercedes, BMW’s, and a very rare TVR to name a few. You could always find “Al” at happy hour at The Bar Room in Deal, NJ where “everybody new his name”.

Alan was a beloved and very present husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Susan (for the last 30 years), his daughter, Jill Porter Keating, her husband, Brian Keating, and his grandchildren, Gavin and Riley. He is survived by his stepchildren, Missy and TJ Storff, as well as, his brother Phillip Porter. He is also survived by his nephew and nephew’s family, Geoffrey, Karen, and Keeghan Porter his niece, Jennifer Frisinia, her husband Damian, and their family.

The service will be held on Thursday, October 20th from 2:00-5:00 pm at Fiore Funeral Home 236 Monmouth Rd, Oakhurst, Ocean Township, NJ 07755.
