Obituary for James F. Merrigan Jr.

James F. Merrigan, Jr., 82, of West Long Branch, died on Monday, June 6, 2016.
He was born in Red Bank and lived in Keansburg before moving to West Long Branch 45 years ago.
He was a communicant of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in West End, Long Branch and served in the US Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a professor of Engineering Technology at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft from 1969 until retiring in 1997. After retiring, he taught part-time for 10 years. He loved walking his dogs through the neighborhood and was an avid model airplane builder. He had a vast collection of books relating to aviation history. He was a member of the NJIPMS and the Root Beer & Checker Club.
He was predeceased by his parents James and Anastasia Merrigan.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Marilyn; son, Craig and his wife Lisa Merrigan and daughter, Susanne Merrigan.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 12 noon until his funeral service at 2 pm Saturday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch. The interment will be private.
