Obituary for Lou D. Christopulos

Lou Demos Christopulos, 83, of Ocean Township, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 13, 2016. She was born on February 24, 1933 to Paul and Katina Demos. Lou grew up in Fort Dodge, Iowa, graduated high school in 1951 and went on to attend Drake University where she earned a BA degree in education. Lou met the love of her life, John, at the tender age of three; they married twenty years later. The newlyweds moved to NJ in 1957 and became active members at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Asbury Park. Lou served as President and Vice-president for the Ladies Philoptochos Society, received the Metropolis Philoptochos award for promoting the mission of Philoptochos and Philanthropy and served as the head of social services for many years. She was a member of the Daughters of Penelope and taught Sunday school. In addition, Lou contributed to the Ocean Township community, where she lived. She was President of the PTA and a popular substitute teacher. Of her many special qualities, her most outstanding attributes were her passion for life and her love for her family. As an only child, Lou was predeceased by her parents and husband of 55 years.
She is survived by her seven children, their spouses and fourteen grandchildren: Catherine and Douglas Fight (Jonathan and Joseph), Anne and Ted Pappayliou (Diane, Chris and Nick), Evan and Dinara Christopulos (Sophie), Paul Christopulos (Steven and John), Beth and John McDermott (John), Matthew and Colleen Christopulos (Hope, Paul and Sean) and Julie and Jim Generelli (Nicole and Kate), nieces, nephews, cousins and so many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 5 to 9 pm on Monday, April 18 at Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, April 19 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Ocean Township. Burial will follow at St. George Greek Orthodox Church Cemetery in Neptune.
