Condolences

Condolence From: James Martin
Condolence: What can be said about my Aunt Jo Maguire? A whole lot of good things come to mind. In life she was one of those people who are eternally young. She was all about kids and was always interested in what they did each day. This extended to all the kids of the neighborhood, as they well remember her kindness. Aunt Jo was an old-fashioned lady cut from FAITHFUL cloth. She loved Uncle Frank as he loved her; and even through his long and difficult illness she never failed to take precious care of him: right up to the end. Antiques and Pennsylvania Amish country were among Aunt Jo's favorites. I went with her on several occasions and you could see her light up as she bargained with the old Antique Dealer in Allenwood or the Amish shop keepers in Lancaster. Actually, Aunt Jo delighted in the simple things of life: collecting sea glass and shells for example (and it still involved kids). And she loved to pick huckleberries at the remains of an old farm in Eatontown. In the midst of all of this Aunt Jo found time to deliver Meals on Wheels to quite a few people in her area, and she did it religiously. She loved her house in Oakhurst and always took great care of it; it always looked new. And it was always cheery to sit around the fireplace and talk. Jo Maguire tried hard to stay in her home until she died, and she almost made it. She was an incredibly loving and tough person for life, and she fought and fought to the end. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord," and if we truly knew the Peace of her new home in Heaven, we wouldn't be grieving badly. Aunt Jo will be watching for us.
