Obituary for Rose A. Hlatky

Rose A. Hlatky, 91, of Wanamassa, Ocean Township, died Monday, November 16, 2015 at Jersey Shore Center in Eatontown. Born in Newark, Rose moved to Ocean Township in 1947 where she raised her seven children. She worked as a preschool teacher for fifteen years at Oakhurst Country Day School & Camp and as an attendance officer for the Ocean Township High School until she retired in 2000 after 20 years of service. Rose was one of the first women elected to the Ocean Township Board of Education and served six years in that capacity.

Rose was predeceased by her daughter, Leslie Ann “Peaches” Hlatky in 2010 and her parents, Marcello and Rose Ambulario, her sister, Frances Kasinko and her two brothers, Andreas Ambulario and Alex Nilo.

She is survived are her children, Ronald and Veronica Hlatky, William Hlatky, Mark and Sandra Hlatky, Bruce and Pilar Hlatky, Amy Hlatky and Elizabeth and Michael Nowak; her nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Rose was loved and respected by all who were blessed to know her. She was an icon of unconditional love.
