Life Story for Bette M. Barthelemy

Bette Mae Edwards Barthelemy, 93 of Oakhurst passed away suddenly on Friday, August 21, 2015. Born in Elizabeth, NJ she was a graduate of Cranford High School. While employed at Westons Meter Company she met the love of her life, George Barthelemy. They were married at the Oakhurst United Methodist Church on August 7, 1942. Bette was a member of the Oakhurst Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, the MS Society, Ocean Township Historical Museum, NARFE and Oakhurst United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and the Monmouth Squares Square Dance Club. She was a Cub Scout Leader and a Seashore Day Camp driver. She enjoyed bingo, painting and traveling with George throughout the country in their trailer. Predeceased by her loving husband of 71 years, she is survived by their four children, Sheryn Rapchinski, James Barthelemy, Nancy Manfredi, Brenda Harshman and their spouses, 8 grandchildren Jason and Jamie Barthelemy, Manahawkin, Alicia Barthelemy, Illinois, Michael Manfredi, California, Lisa Manfredi, Massachusetts, Bryan and Tiffany Harshman, Idaho, Jeremy Harshman, North Carolina, Brett Harshman, Florida and Jillian Harshman and her fiancé Nikolaos Papagiannis, Wayside. Bette was blessed with 8 great- grandchildren, Jasmine Barthelemy, Manahawkin, Jordan and Autumn Barthelemy, Illinois, Tristan and Kolter Whitten-Harshman, Charlize Johnson-Harshman, Idaho, Jolleen and Blake Harshman, California; a brother, Arthur Edwards and a sister, Alla Staub. Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 12 noon to 2 pm Wednesday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst followed immediately by a graveside service at Wayside Cemetery.
