Obituary for Joseph D Gallo

Joseph D. Gallo, 86, of West Long Branch, died Friday, November 14, 2014 at Jersey Shore Center in Eatontown.

He was born and raised in Long Branch and lived in West Long Branch for 54 years before recently moving to Oceanport.

He owned Gallo’s Luncheonette in West Long Branch for 20 years and Gallo’s Liquors and Bar in Long Branch before retiring in 1992. Joe served on the West Long Branch Planning Board for 35 years and served in Code Enforcement and as a Zoning Officer in West Long Branch. He was a member of West Long Branch Fire Company #2 and an ex-captain of the West Long Branch First Aid Squad. He was a communicant of Christ the King Parish of Holy Trinity Church in Long Branch and served in the US Army.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Jo Gallo and his parents, Agostino and Mary Vincelli Gallo.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Vera Giordano Gallo; son, Joseph and his wife Nancy Gallo of West Long Branch; 2 brothers, Dominick (Ann) Gallo of West Long Branch and Richard Gallo (Pat Locher) of Ocean Township; 3 grandchildren, Dominick Mazza and his wife Nicole of Ocean Township, Joseph Gallo and his wife Lindsey of Hoboken and Samantha Gallo of West Long Branch, 1 great-grandson, Nicholas Mazza; Fred Baker and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 12 noon until his funeral service at 3:30 pm Tuesday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road in Oakhurst.
